Hydrangea hand embroidery was one of my first designs. I did not want the petals to be equal. I studied the flower in more detail and the petals weren't all equal. This is why I have made them uneven. I sketched it, then stitched it and for a complete beginner in me at the time, I think it turned out quite nice.

here. I have used double thread so the end result is quite chunky but you can use delicate thread and will achieve a more subtle effect.
